Project Complete!

As you may remember, in April I began a project to make my own dress... something that I've never done before, thought would be a challenge and hell, I just wanted to see if I could do it. Well, I finally finished it last night and, if I do say so myself, I'm pretty pleased with the results, especially considering this is a first attempt and has all been hand-stitched as I don't own a sewing machine.

I'm not sure I would do it again.... at least not by hand, but then the fancy will probably take me at some point in the future and I'll end up starting all over again when I've forgotten just how much work it involved, lol.
Blessings x

  1. Ooooh, I love it! I agree: handstitching is quite a task. I love my sewing machine! The really amazing part about this particular dress, however, is that you put your love and magickal energy into each stitch. That dress is going to be an amazing part of your practice for you! For my part, I'm looking to make a new robe. I'll use my machine for the bulk of it and hand stitch emblems and do hand embroidery along the hem, wrists and hood to imbue it with my love and energy :) Maybe that can be a nice compromise for you for your next project?

  5. Way to go girl - you do incredible work! I can't imagine how much time it must have taken you to do it all by hand. The colour is really lovely too!

  7. Oh my Gods! That's hand stitched? Really? That is great. You did a wonderful job and it fits you amazingly great. I think I might try to follow your example, although I dough the results will be anything like yours.

  8. *grins proudly and blushes* thanks guys, it was a job and a half but I think the results have proven to be worth the effort!

@ Witchy Mom - a simple robe had been my first intention, but I do kinda let myself get carried away sometimes, lol.

The colour is nice isn't it..? It's 'olive' both the main fabric and the silk taffeta. I wanted something natural that related to my 'earthy' ways :) and that green just seemed perfect.

@ Magaly - fantastic! I'm sure you'll do a fab job, be sure to let me know how it goes if you give it a go! :D
